Installing the program
Why
Sigelith Backup backs up chosen folders to an external drive or another drive: with a version history and, if you want, with encryption. It is free, needs no account and shows no ads.
Before you start
- You need Windows 10 (version 22H2) or Windows 11, 64-bit.
- Have a drive ready for the backups, ideally an external one or a second drive in the computer. A drive with the NTFS file system saves the most space.
Step by step
- Open the Microsoft Store (the app store in Windows) and search for “Sigelith Backup”. In a web browser, the program's Store page is apps.microsoft.com/detail/9p403grsv1tx.
- Click “Get”.
- After installation, click “Open” or start the program from the Start menu.
What you should see
The first time, the “Setting up your first backup” wizard opens. The Start menu has a “Sigelith Backup” shortcut.
What next
- Set up your first backup in the wizard (see “Creating your first backup with the wizard”).
- The Store installs new versions of the program by itself. Settings, templates and history are kept.
- If you want to recover files rather than back them up, for example on a new computer, see “Recovering files on a new computer”.
If something goes wrong
- The Store does not let you install the program: check that you have Windows 10 version 22H2 or Windows 11, in the 64-bit edition.
