⁦C.⁩ Backup on discs

Creating only an ISO image

Why

When you have no burner right now, or want to record the disc with another program or on another computer. An ISO image is the whole content of a disc in a single file. From the same image you can also record a second copy of the disc.

Step by step

  1. Start as in the task “Recording a backup version on a disc” or “Recording selected files and folders”.
  2. On the “Record on what?” page, select “ISO image only”. In the “Disc type” field, choose the disc you will later record the image on, for example BD-R 25 GB. The program fits the image to it.
  3. Click “Next”, and on the “Disc plan” page “Next” again.
  4. The program prepares the disc contents, makes the image and checks it.
  5. Click “Finish”.

What you should see

The message “Image ready and checked” with the path to the image file in the “Sigelith Disc Images” folder in your user folder (C:\Users\…). The disc is already in the “Archive discs” window: the program enters it in the register straight away, because it does not know when you will record the image.

What next

  1. Record the image on a disc: in File Explorer, right-click the image file and choose “Burn disc image”, or use another disc burning program.
  2. Check the recorded disc in the program (see “Checking a disc”).
  3. Afterwards, delete the image or keep it for a second copy of the disc.

If something goes wrong

  • “Not enough space on the drive with the folder”: on the “Disc plan” page, choose a folder on a drive with more free space.
  • Another program says the image does not fit on the disc: in the wizard, choose the same type of disc you are recording on.
